Redd, Bucks top Sixers, snap seven-game skid
Feb 25, 2007 - 6:25 AM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Bucks finally won with Michael Redd back in the lineup. Mo Williams made sure of it.Williams had 26 points and seven assists and Redd also scored 26 as the Milwaukee Bucks snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 109-90 victory over the lowly Philadelphia 76ers.
Ruben Patterson had 13 points and a career-high 10 assists for the Bucks, who went 3-17 with Redd out of the lineup. After dropping its first three since his return, Milwaukee finally broke through on Saturday.
"It was great to get over that hump," Redd said. "I think what we did was we took the momentum from the second quarter over to the second half and that was the difference."
One of the league's premier sharpshooters, Redd scored just 12 points on 4-of-13 shooting in Friday's controversial loss at New York.
With the game tied at the end of regulation on Friday, Bucks center Andrew Bogut was called for a foul as time expired. The officials put eight-tenths of a second back on the clock, allowing the Knicks to nail the winning free throws.
"We were determined to really come out and play well," Redd said. "It's all about how you react during adversity. We had been through a tough week with some close losses and tonight we were just determined."
On Saturday, Milwaukee's backcourt made sure the outcome would not hang in the balance. Redd and Williams combined to shoot 19-of-31 from the field, including 8-of-14 from the arc.
But Bucks coach Terry Stotts was most impressed with Williams' defensive effort.
"Williams did a terrific job of chasing (Philadelphia swingman Kyle Korver) around and challenging shots," Stotts said. "Kyle is a tremendous shooter and just needs a little bit of daylight. But I thought that Mo really made him work to get shots and when he did take shots, his hand was there most of the time."
Korver scored just eight points on 4-of-9 shooting.
Leading by one point at halftime, the Bucks outscored the 76ers, 62-44, in the second half to secure the victory.
Andre Iguodala scored 22 points for Philadelphia, which shot 51 percent (37-of-72) but absorbed its fifth loss in its last six games.
"It's tough losing, period, no matter who you are playing," Iguodala said. "We just have to try and regroup, go back to the basics and try and get a win."
