Playoff ramifications as Kidd, Nets host Knicks

Feb 25, 2007 - 6:23 PM New York (25-31) at New Jersey (26-30) 6:00 pm EST

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) - Battling trade rumors for the past few weeks, Jason Kidd now has to fight off an injury.

Playing with a cracked rib, Kidd and the New Jersey Nets will take on the New York Knicks.

Despite the injury revealed on Thursday, Kidd recorded his 84th career triple-double and his ninth of the season - tying a career high in a 109-96 win over Sacramento on Thursday. It was his sixth career triple-double against the Kings, including his second in as many games this season.

Kidd and the Nets will look to continue their success against the Knicks, who they have beaten in 18 of the last 22 meetings. The Nets won the only matchup between the teams this season, posting a 101-100 victory at Madison Square Garden on January 19.

New York has alternated wins and losses in its last seven games, including a controversial 95-93 win over Milwaukee at home Friday.

With the game tied, 93-93, the Bucks were called for a foul with less than a second left. After a video review, eight-tenths of a second were put back on the clock and Channing Frye nailed two free throws.
