Wade-less Heat visit New York

Feb 26, 2007 - 2:33 PM Miami (27-28) at New York (25-32) 7:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The Miami Heat will lean on Jason Kapono in the absence of Dwyane Wade.

The Heat, who are clinging to the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, visit the New York Knicks on Monday.

Kapono scored 13 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Heat to an 86-81 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.

Kapono is being asked to shoulder a bigger load in the absence of Wade, who will be sidelined indefinitely with a dislocated left shoulder.

Another player asked to pick up his game in Wade's absence is Shaquille O'Neal, a three-time Finals MVP who has been limited to 16 games this season due to a knee injury.

O'Neal turned in 29 active minutes, finishing with 19 points and 11 rebounds en route to his third double-double of the season in the win over Cleveland.

The Knicks dropped a 101-92 decision to the New Jersey Nets on Sunday, giving up 40 points to Vince Carter. Stephon Marbury scored 22 points, but only five came in the second half.

New York played without forward David Lee, who is listed as questionable with a sprained ankle.
