Arenas, Wizards aim to snap three-game slide

Feb 28, 2007 - 3:27 PM Miami (27-29) at Washington (31-24) 7:00 pm EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Wizards seek to snap a three-game losing streak when they host Shaquille O'Neal and the shorthanded Miami Heat on Wednesday in a Southwest Division matchup.

Washington is coming off a 113-101 loss at New Jersey on Tuesday. All-Star Gilbert Arenas scored 26 points and Jarvis Hayes chipped in a season-high 21 in the loss.

With Antawn Jamison still sidelined with a knee injury, the Wizards were also minus All-Star forward Caron Butler for a second straight game due to back spasms.

The Heat, who are without All-Star guard Dwyane Wade for perhaps the rest of the season with a dislocated shoulder, lost at New York, 99-93, on Monday.

Wade decided that he will wait until the end of the week to decide whether to undergo season-ending surgery or rehabilitate his injured shoulder. Miami is 2-8 without him in the lineup.

Also on Tuesday, Miami was honored by President George W. Bush at the White House in celebration of last season's NBA title.

Washington snapped a 12-game losing streak against the Heat with a 106-95 triumph on December 15.
