Clippers look to sweep home-and-home against SuperSonics

Mar 1, 2007 - 4:57 PM LA Clippers (28-29) at Seattle (22-35) 10:30 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Already without their promising young point guard, the injury-riddled Los Angeles Clippers now may be without his backup as well.

After winning their first game without Shaun Livingston, the Clippers hope to have veteran Sam Cassell in the lineup when they look to sweep a home-and-home series with the Seattle SuperSonics on Thursday.

One of the cornerstones of the Clippers, Livingston has multiple torn ligaments in his left knee after suffering a devastating injury in Monday's win over Charlotte. The 21-year-old guard tore his ACL, PCL, MCL and lateral meniscus and will be out eight to 12 months.

Elton Brand and Corey Maggette scored 18 points apiece to lead the Clippers to a 96-91 win over the SuperSonics on Wednesday.

But the Clippers saw Cassell, Livingston's backup, suffer a groin injury in the fourth quarter. Cassell's status will be determined before Thursday's game. Second-year guard Daniel Ewing may end up starting against Seattle in the rematch.

Despite missing all five of his shots from the arc on Wednesday, Rashard Lewis scored 21 points for Seattle, which shot 47 percent (37-of-81) in the loss at Los Angeles.
