Anthony, Nuggets try to hold off Hornets

Mar 6, 2007 - 4:43 PM New Orleans (28-32) at Denver (28-29) 9:00 pm EST

DENVER (Ticker) - Just 1 1/2 games separate the Denver Nuggets and the New Orleans Hornets in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Nuggets host the Hornets on Tuesday in a game that could determine which team will be in the postseason.

The Hornets have won the first two meetings and can clinch the season series with a victory. They have lost five of seven on the road to the Nuggets but host the season series finale April 13.

Both teams are coming off losses. Denver has lost five of seven overall and four of six at home following Friday's 108-97 setback to Houston.

Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points for the Nuggets, who are 0-19 when they fail to score 100 points.

The Hornets dropped a 108-94 home decision to Utah on Sunday. Tyson Chandler scored a season-high 20 points and hauled in 19 rebounds for his 12th straight double-double.
