Wizards seek fourth straight win, face Hawks

Mar 7, 2007 - 6:31 PM Washington (34-25) at Atlanta (22-39) 7:00 pm EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) - Gilbert Arenas is hoping that the Washington Wizards don't overlook the Atlanta Hawks.

Led by their All-Star guard, the Wizards seek their fourth straight win Wednesday when they meet the shorthanded Atlanta Hawks.

The Hawks will be without All-Star guard Joe Johnson (bruised right calf), forward Marvin Williams (bruised back) and point guard Speedy Claxton (sore left knee).

Washington, which holds a four-game lead over Miami in the Southeast Division, has not won four in a row since January 15-20.

Arenas and Antawn Jamison scored 25 points apiece as the Wizards cruised to a 129-109 victory over Atlantic Division-leading Toronto on Tuesday. Reserve guard Antonio Daniels scored 15 of his 18 points in a 40-point second quarter.

The Wizards have beaten the Hawks twice this season and have won 10 of the last 11 meetings between the teams.

"This our third game with everyone back and healthy, and we feel confident and ready to go," Arenas said. "It is about that time for us to start and make that push. We have a goal that we are trying to get to and we cannot lose games like this anymore."

The Hawks are in the midst of a six-game losing streak, their longest since an eight-game slide from December 16-January 5.

Atlanta endured one of its losses during its current slide against Washington on Friday, a 93-92 road setback. Jamison collected 22 points and six rebounds to pace the Wizards.

On Monday, the Hawks suffered an 88-81 loss at Miami. Johnson, who leads the Hawks in scoring at 25.0 points per game, was limited to just 12.
