Top two teams in East meet as Pistons take on Cavaliers

Mar 7, 2007 - 4:00 PM Cleveland (35-25) at Detroit (37-21) 7:30 pm EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - The Detroit Pistons want to hit the road on a high note and solidify the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Before embarking on a five-game road trip, the Pistons host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.

This is the first meeting between the teams here since the Pistons beat the Cavaliers in Game Seven of last season's Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Pistons have won both matchups in Cleveland this season and five straight overall. The Pistons also are 23-5 at home against the Cavs since 1992-93.

Detroit, which holds a three-game lead over Cleveland in the Central Division, will enter this contest in a foul mood following Monday's 111-93 home loss to Golden State. It was the Pistons' worst home loss since January 6, 2005.

After receiving criticism for the Cavs' inconsistent play, superstar LeBron James has scored at least 30 points in his last three games. Cleveland has won three of its last four games.

James collected 32 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in Monday's 91-85 win over Houston. Larry Hughes, averaging 18.0 points since the All-Star break, added 22 against the Rockets.
