Bobcats, Grizzlies both hope to end losing streaks

Mar 10, 2007 - 4:15 PM Memphis (15-48) at Charlotte (22-40) 7:00 pm EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Both the Charlotte Bobcats and Memphis Grizzlies are enduring horrific downward spirals.

The undermanned Bobcats look to avoid their seventh straight loss Saturday when they host the reeling Grizzlies, who look to snap a six-game skid.

Since star center Emeka Okafor went down with a calf injury, Charlotte has relied heavily on the services of Gerald Wallace, who has recorded two 30-point outings during the losing streak.

But Wallace's 22 points and 15 rebounds were not enough in Wednesday's 115-106 overtime setback at Phoenix.

However, things are not any better for Memphis, which dropped a 106-105 decision to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.

Rookie Rudy Gay has turned up his play since being put back in the starting lineup on February 7. The eighth overall selection has reached double figures in 13 of his last 14 games to make a late push for Rookie of the Year honors.
