Surging Spurs look to push winning streak to 12 games

Mar 10, 2007 - 5:59 PM New Jersey (28-34) at San Antonio (44-18) 8:00 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Manu Ginobili and the red-hot San Antonio Spurs are looking to extend a pair of commanding steaks on Saturday.

Ginobili hopes to help the Spurs push their season-high winning streak to 12 consecutive game when they host the slumping New Jersey Nets on Saturday.

With its current streak on the line, San Antonio also has an impressive eight-game winning streak at stake against the Nets. It has not dropped a matchup in the series since the 2002-03 campaign.

Most of the Spurs' success during this run can be contributed to the play of Ginobili, who is averaging 19.8 points over the stretch.

On Thursday, Ginobili netted 31 points and All-Star Tim Duncan chipped in his 33rd double-double of the season in San Antonio's 100-93 triumph over the Sacramento Kings.

New Jersey enters with a four-game losing streak after Friday's 112-91 setback to the Houston Rockets.

Despite the loss, the Nets finally saw the return of forward Richard Jefferson, who was sidelined for 21 games following mid-season ankle surgery. He had just two points and three turnovers in 15 minutes.
