Davis, Warriors aim for fourth consecutive win

Mar 11, 2007 - 5:07 PM Golden State (29-35) at Portland (25-36) 9:00 pm EDT

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) - The Golden State Warriors have not made the playoffs in 13 years. Baron Davis is trying to do something about it.

Davis will try to continue to provide a spark for the Warriors, who visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday.

The Warriors had lost six in a row until Davis returned from a 13-game absence due to knee surgery. They have won all three games with their star point guard back in the lineup, including Friday's 99-89 triumph over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Davis is averaging 20.6 points, 5.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds since his return to help the Warriors climb within 1 1/2 games of the Clippers (29-32) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

"It's great to have Baron back, he's our leader," Warriors swingman Stephen Jackson said. "Having him back, you see the difference it makes and hopefully we can keep riding that high horse, keep using their energy and keep finding ways to win games so we can get in these playoffs."

Golden State has not made the playoffs since 1994, the longest current drought of any team.

The Warriors have won their last seven meetings with the Trail Blazers, including three straight at the Rose Garden, where Portland is 1-2 as it finishes up a four-game homestand.

Rookie Brandon Roy is averaging 16.0 points, 8.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds on the homestand.
