Nuggets seek eighth straight home win vs. Blazers

Mar 13, 2007 - 2:26 PM Portland (26-36) at Denver (30-31) 9:00 pm EDT

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Denver Nuggets have won seven straight home games against the Portland Trail Blazers. Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson would like to extend that streak.

Anthony was serving a 15-game suspension for his role in a December brawl against the New York Knicks when the Nuggets and Blazers first met on January 14. Iverson scored 32 points to Denver to a 109-93 triumph.

Iverson was sidelined with an ankle injury in the next two encounters with the Blazers, opening the door for Anthony, the league's top scorer, to score 33 points in both matchups. The Nuggets lost the first on January 31 before taking the rematch two days later.

Anthony scored 29 points and Iverson added 24 for the Nuggets, who snapped a 20-game road losing streak against the Sacramento Kings with Sunday's 113-101 victory.

Denver enters play in seventh place in the Western Conference, 1 1/2 games ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers and 1 1/2 behind the Los Angeles Lakers.

Portland's Zach Randolph has had a pair of terrific outings in the last two showdowns against Denver, averaging 25.5 points and 13.0 rebounds.

Randolph comes off his third straight double-double, when he scored 25 points and grabbed 13 boards to lead the Trail Blazers in a 106-87 win over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.

Portland has lost 13 of the past 15 overall meetings against Denver.
