Sixers look to bounce back vs. Bulls

Mar 14, 2007 - 1:14 PM Chicago (38-28) at Philadelphia (25-39) 7:00 pm EDT PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Coach Maurice Cheeks and the Philadelphia 76ers still have a puncher's chance.

With a longshot possibility of a playoff berth, the 76ers will try to rebound from a disappointing loss when they host the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.

Philadelphia was riding high with a season-best seven-game winning streak before losing to the Atlanta Hawks, 104-92, on Tuesday.

However, the 76ers will be looking to extend their home winning streak to eight games. They have not lost here since a 92-85 setback to Washington on February 14.

Despite Tuesday's loss, the Sixers are still just 4 1/2 games behind Indiana, New York and New Jersey for the final two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.

Chicago is coming off its third consecutive win, a 95-87 triumph over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Rookie Tyrus Thomas led the way with a season-high 23 points.

Taken fourth overall in last June's draft, Thomas has been impressive off the bench, averaging 9.4 points in his last seven outings.

"I am getting better every game I play," Thomas said.

The Bulls are hoping to record their third streak of at least four wins. They won a season-high seven straight games from November 25-December 6 and five in a row in mid-December.

Chicago is just 13-20 away from the United Center.

The Sixers and Bulls split their first two meetings.
