Bobcats look for first-ever win vs. road-weary Clippers

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Bobcats won for outgoing coach Bernie Bickerstaff on Wednesday. Now they will go for their first victory against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Winless against the Clippers in their three-year history, the Bobcats will look to end that drought and extend their winning streak to three games when the teams face off on Friday.

Charlotte had lost eight straight games, leading to Michael Jordan's announcement that Bickerstaff would not return as coach next season. Bickerstaff has been invited to remain with the team in an undisclosed front office capacity.

Charlotte has posted consecutive wins over Orlando and Sacramento this week. The Bobcats averaged 115.0 points and shot 62 percent on 3-pointers in those wins.

Sean May nailed a key shot from the arc as Charlotte posted a 111-108 victory over Sacramento on Wednesday. His 3-pointer - the first of his career - from the top of the key with 16 seconds left gave the Bobcats the lead for good.

May, who had 20 points and 12 rebounds on Wednesday, is averaging 15.7 points in three games since returning from a knee injury that sidelined him for 20 games.

May and the Bobcats will look for their sixth win in their last eight home games when they face the Clippers, who have not won a road game in more than a month.

Los Angeles has lost six straight road games and nine of it last 10. The Clippers' last win away from the Staples Center came in Philadelphia on February 9. The Clippers are just 8-23 on the road this campaign.

Los Angeles dropped its latest road contest on Wednesday, a 109-105 setback to Houston.

Chris Kaman scored 16 points for the Clippers (29-35), who fell into a virtual eighth-place tie with Golden State (30-36) in the Western Conference.
