Miller carries Grizzlies past Bulls

Mar 18, 2007 - 5:49 AM MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Mike Miller and the Memphis Grizzlies now just need to put another one with this.

Miller had 25 points and 12 rebounds as the Grizzlies survived a late charge to post a 104-103 victory over the Chicago Bulls, who had their four-game winning streak snapped.

Pau Gasol had 21 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks and Hakim Warrick added 15 and 10 for league-worst Memphis (16-50) - the only team in the NBA that has not won consecutive games this season.

"It's fun to get a win. It's a good experience for everyone," Miller said. "Our record doesn't indicate how good we are. We feel good after just about every game this season. We feel like we can beat anybody on any given night."

Ben Gordon poured in six of his 33 points on back-to-back 3-pointers that helped the Bulls close to 99-98 with 49 seconds to go.

"I was trying to do what I could to keep us in it," Gordon said. "I got a few looks and hit a couple shots, but they made the plays in the end and we didn't."

Gasol converted a three-point play to rebuild a four-point lead 17 seconds later. But Kirk Hinrich completed a three-point play of his own to make it 102-101 with 16 seconds left.

After Chucky Atkins split a pair of free throws, Hinrich hit a floater in the lane to tie the contest at 103-103 with nine seconds remaining.

Bulls rookie Tyrus Thomas fouled Warrick, who made 1-of-2 free throws to give the Grizzlies the lead with four seconds left. Chicago had a chance to win it but Luol Deng missed a running hook as time expired.

"I'm not taking anything away from Memphis," Deng said. "They did a good job and they play hard. We just didn't play well."

Deng scored 23 points and Kinrich chipped in 16 for Chicago, which shot 43 percent (32-of-73) and trailed by as many as 16 points.

"We're kidding ourselves if we think this (kind of effort) is enough to compete with the best teams," Chicago coach Scott Skiles said. "This is what separates the really, really good clubs from the ones that are just mediocre."

Chicago fell to 15-17 away from the United Center.
