Brand plays against former team

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Elton Brand's former team is likely headed to the playoffs. He would like his team to make the postseason as well.

Brand and the Los Angeles Clippers meet the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

The two-time All-Star forward collected 26 points and nine rebounds in the Clippers' 110-98 win over the Bulls on January 31.

But Los Angeles is one game behind Golden State (32-36) for the final Western Conference playoff spot after reaching the conference semifinals last season.

Cuttino Mobley scored 27 points and Corey Maggette added 23 and nine rebounds in the Clippers' 101-95 loss at New Jersey on Sunday. That dropped Los Angeles to 1-3 on its current road swing and 2-7 in March.

Brand is averaging 22.3 points and 9.8 rebounds on the trip.

The Bulls had their four-game winning streak snapped by the Memphis Grizzlies, 104-103, on Sunday. Memphis has the worst record (17-50) in the NBA.

Chicago has the third-best record in the Eastern Conference, but is the fifth seed behind three division leaders and the second-place team in its division.
