Bryant aims to continue offensive surge when Lakers face Grizzlies
Mar 22, 2007 - 4:20 PM LA Lakers (35-32) at Memphis (17-51) 8:00 pm EDTMEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Kobe Bryant is taking matters into his own hands for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bryant hopes for another offensive outburst Thursday when the Lakers visit the Memphis Grizzlies.
Two days after scoring a season-high 65 points, Bryant netted 50 as Los Angeles won its second straight contest with a 109-102 victory over Minnesota on Sunday.
Bryant became the first Laker since Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor to score at least 50 points in back-to-back games. It is the fifth time this season and 16th time in his career he eclipsed the 50-point barrier.
Los Angeles remains tied with Denver (34-31) for the seventh spot in the Western Conference.
Memphis suffered a 114-103 loss to New Orleans on Tuesday. Mike Miller had 13 points, but did not score after the first quarter for the Grizzlies.
After Saturday's win over Chicago, the Grizzlies remained the only team without back-to-back victories this season.
