Anthony, Nuggets aim to stay hot against Bulls

Mar 22, 2007 - 4:38 PM Denver (34-31) at Chicago (39-30) 8:30 pm EDT

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Carmelo Anthony is helping the Denver Nuggets make a late push for a higher playoff seed in the Western Conference.

Anthony and the Nuggets aim for their season-high sixth straight victory Thursday when they visit the Chicago Bulls.

Denver has won five in a row to move into a virtual sixth-place tie with the Los Angeles Lakers (35-32) in the conference standings.

The Nuggets, who are in the midst of a five-game Eastern road trip, hope to carry momentum from Tuesday's 94-90 triumph at New Jersey.

Anthony scored 30 points and Allen Iverson added 20 for Denver, which won for the first time this season without scoring at least 100 points.

The Bulls fell to the lowly Memphis Grizzlies, 104-103, on Saturday. Chicago then dropped a 103-89 decision at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday.

The Bulls remain 5 1/2 games behind the Detroit (43-23) for the Central Division lead.
