Aldridge, Blazers seek fourth straight win

Mar 25, 2007 - 2:56 PM Portland (29-40) at Minnesota (29-39) 3:30 pm EDT

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Portland Trail Blazers may not be playoff bound, but their future looks bright.

The Trail Blazers will try to extend their winning streak to four games Sunday when they visit superstar Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

LaMarcus Aldridge collected 27 points and 14 rebounds and fellow rookie Brandon Roy added 23 and nine as Portland posted 102-100 overtime victory at Atlanta.

Taken second overall by Chicago in June's draft, Aldridge has been stellar, adding his name into the conversation for Rookie of the Year honors. He is averaging 16.8 points with four double-doubles since the All-Star break.

If Aldridge is to challenge for the award he will have to battle Roy, who was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for January and February. He is averaging 16.1 points in 49 games.

Portland has not won four games in a row since its season-high five-game winning streak from December 10-20.

The Timberwolves lost for the fourth time in five games with Friday's 85-82 setback to the Seattle SuperSonics.

Despite grabbing a season-best 22 rebounds, Garnett scored a season-low 10 points - 12 off his season average - on 4-of-12 shooting in the loss.
