Wizards seek to snap three-game skid

Mar 28, 2007 - 2:14 PM Philadelphia (28-42) at Washington (37-32) 7:00 pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards have lost their division lead.

For the first time in more than two months, the Wizards are in second place in the Southeast Division, one-half game behind the Miami Heat.

The Wizards will try to snap a three-game losing streak when they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Washington lost to Utah, 103-97, on Tuesday to slip one-half game behind Miami (38-32).

The Wizards boast the league's fifth best home record at 25-9, compared to just 12-23 on the road.

It has been a rough few weeks for Arenas. First he promised to score 50 points against Portland and came up 38 points short. He then missed a free throw that would have tied the game against Utah late in the fourth quarter on Monday.

The 76ers have lost seven of their last 10, but are coming off a 93-85 win over the Heat.

Andre Iguodala, who recently missed the first game of his career after 232 straight starts due to lower back pain, scored 19 points in his return in the win over the Heat.

Washington, which currently holds the Eastern Conference's sixth playoff spot, may be without forward Caron Butler, who is day-to-day with a knee contusion.

The Wizards won both meetings this season, including a 92-85 victory in Philadelphia on February 14. Arenas scored 22 points in that contest.
