Spurs moving closer to Suns
Mar 28, 2007 - 3:08 PM New Orleans (32-39) at San Antonio (50-20) 8:00 pm EDTSAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs are moving closer to second place in the Western Conference. The New Orleans Hornets are scrambling to earn a playoff berth.
The Spurs have won four in a row to move within three games of the second-place Phoenix Suns heading into Wednesday's contest against the Hornets.
San Antonio has won its last two games by a combined 78 points, topping 120 points in both contests. A 126-89 win at Golden State on Monday clinched the Spurs' eighth straight season of 50 or more wins.
The Hornets are struggling to stay in the race for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. After a 105-89 loss to Dallas on Tuesday, the Hornets are 2 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers (34-36).
Star point guard Chris Paul was held to two points in the loss against Dallas.
The Spurs have won the first three meetings this season and six in a row in the series.
