Davis, Warriors host Nash and Suns

Mar 29, 2007 - 3:26 PM Phoenix (53-17) at Golden State (33-39) 10:30 pm EDT

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - With 10 games left in the season and a 13-year postseason drought looming over them, the Golden State Warriors need to play well against a Western Conference power.

The Warriors host the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, desperately needing a win to stay in the playoff race.

The Warriors (33-39) have not been to the postseason since 1994. They are two games behind the Los Angeles Clippers (34-36) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.

Golden State has lost two straight games, including a 129-86 crushing at the hands of San Antonio on Monday. Starters Al Harrington and Jason Richardson combined to score one point on 0-of-13 shooting.

The Warriors are just 2-9 in their last 11 games vs. the top six teams in the West. They have four such games remaining, with contests at Houston and San Antonio next week.

Golden State also has lost its last three meetings with Phoenix, which delivered a 105-87 beating to Memphis on Monday as Raja Bell scored 29 points and Amare Stoudemire added 27 and 12 rebounds.

The Suns, who already have clinched the Pacific Division title, have a 2 1/2-game lead over San Antonio in the race for the second seed in the West.
