First-place teams meet as Wizards host Raptors

Mar 30, 2007 - 1:52 PM Toronto (39-32) at Washington (38-32) 7:00 pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - Back in first place in the Southeast Division, the Washington Wizards would like to stay there as they meet the Toronto Raptors on Friday.

With Wednesday's 111-108 triumph over the Philadelphia 76ers, Washington put an end to a three-game slide and moved one-half game in front of Miami (38-33) in the division.

The win also saw the return of All-Star swingman Caron Bulter, who missed six games with an injured knee. He scored 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting in 39 minutes.

"I felt rested but I didn't have a rhythm," Bulter said. "I was just trying to find a rhythm. I haven't picked up a ball or anything in a while. My main focus was just my health and resting. Mentally and physically I felt great, but from a basketball standpoint, a little rusty."

Toronto also is in first place, holding a comfortable six-game advantage over New Jersey (33-38) in the Atlantic Division with 11 to play. But the Raptors will be looking to improve away from home, where they are just 13-22 this season.

Anthony Parker scored 20 points to lead six players in double figures as the Raptors posted a 96-83 victory over the Heat on Wednesday. Toronto has won two of the three meetings between the teams this season.
