Clippers seek to end 17-game slide at Sacramento

Mar 30, 2007 - 2:53 PM LA Clippers (34-37) at Sacramento (30-40) 10:30 pm EDT

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Fighting for their playoff lives, the Los Angeles Clippers look to snap a 17-game losing streak at Arco Arena when they face the Sacramento Kings on Friday.

Los Angeles has not posted a win in California's capital since a 98-85 triumph on November 7, 1997. In their last visit here, the Clippers shot a season-low 30 percent in a 93-80 loss on November 28.

On Wednesday, the Clippers placed five players in double figures but had a four-game losing streak stopped in a 92-87 loss against Houston.

"If we continue to play this well we will make the playoffs," Clippers forward Elton Brand said. "This could have been a great win for us. I am disappointed."

Los Angeles holds the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, one game in front of Golden State (34-39).

The Kings also are fighting for their playoff lives. They are 3 1/2 games behind the Clippers with 12 contests remaining.

Sacramento is searching for back-to-back wins for the first time since a four-game run from February 28-March 8.

Mike Bibby netted 37 points and drained a franchise-high nine 3-pointers for the Kings during Sunday's 107-100 victory over Phoenix.

The second overall selection in the 1998 draft, Bibby is averaging 28.3 points and 5.3 assists in his last three contests.
