Bryant, Lakers try to hold off Anthony, Nuggets
Apr 3, 2007 - 4:20 PM Denver (36-36) at La Lakers (39-34) 10:30 pm EDTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers must be licking their chops at the sight of the Denver Nuggets.
Bryant and the Lakers seek their ninth straight home victory over the Nuggets when the teams square off Tuesday.
Los Angeles has won six of its last eight, including a 126-103 victory against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.
The league's leading scorer, Bryant settled for just 19 points but handed out a season-high 13 assists for the Lakers, who shot a season-best 62 percent (50-of-81) from the field.
Los Angeles currently leads Denver by 2 1/2 games for the sixth seed in the Western Conference with nine games remaining. The Nuggets have 10 games left to play.
The Nuggets beat the Seattle Supersonics, 114-103, on Sunday, snapping a three-game skid. Carmelo Anthony scored 32 points and Allen Iverson added 21 of his 26 after halftime for Denver, which has not beaten Los Angeles here since January 22, 2002.
The Lakers are 13-1 all-time against the Nuggets at Staples Center.
