Hornets try to stay in playoff race, face Bucks

Apr 3, 2007 - 4:47 PM New Orleans (33-40) at Milwaukee (25-47) 8:00 pm EDT

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Time is running out for the New Orleans Hornets.

With nine games left in their regular season, Chris Paul and the Hornets hope to stay alive in the postseason race when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

The Hornets (33-40) are three games behind the Los Angeles Clippers (36-37) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Hornets beat the New York Knicks on Saturday, 103-94, in overtime.

David West scored 20 points and Paul added 16, including seven in the extra period for the Hornets, who are making up a game with the Bucks after their game was cancelled due to inclement weather in Oklahoma City.

The Hornets, who posted a 109-102 double-overtime home victory over the Bucks on February 8, are 18-17 all-time in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee has dropped six straight, including a 121-107 loss to the Washington Wizards on Sunday. Mo Williams scored 25 points and Ruben Patterson added 19 for the Bucks, who played without injured leading scorer Michael Redd.
