Wizards seek payback against Bobcats

Apr 4, 2007 - 2:49 PM Charlotte (29-46) at Washington (39-34) 7:00 pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - The Washington Wizards will be looking for instant revenge when they face the Charlotte Bobcats for the second time in as many nights.

The Bobcats topped the Wizards, 122-102, in Charlotte on Tuesday. Wins over Washington have been rare for Charlotte, which beat the Wizards for just the second time in the last 11 meetings.

The Bobcats pounced on the absence of Wizards All-Star forward Caron Butler, who is out with a broken hand. Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace - who would have been matched up with Butler - had 34 points and 14 rebounds.

Rookie Walter Herrmann continued his recent strong play with 21 points and Emeka Okafor added 17 and 13 rebounds for the Bobcats, who snapped a five-game skid against the Wizards.

Gilbert Arenas scored 33 points for the Wizards, who fell to 2-8 this season without Butler. His absence may cost Washington the Southeast Division title.

Tuesday's loss dumped the Wizards (39-34) one-half game behind Miami (40-34) atop the division. Washington is sixth in the Eastern Conference.
