Pistons aim for season series split vs. Bulls

Apr 4, 2007 - 4:14 PM Chicago (44-31) at Detroit (48-26) 8:00 pm EDT

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - The Detroit Pistons will try to avenge a recent loss and re-assert their standing atop the Eastern Conference on Wednesday when they host the Chicago Bulls.

A win over the Bulls would give the Pistons a split of the four-game season series and possibly send a postseason message to the Bulls, who notched an 83-81 home win over Detroit six days ago.

Ben Gordon scored 25 points for Chicago, which has been chasing Detroit in the Central Division for virtually the entire season. The playoff-bound Bulls are in third place, 4 1/2 games behind the Pistons and one in back of Cleveland (45-30).

The Pistons have recovered nicely from their loss to the Bulls with three straight wins, including Tuesday's 100-85 victory at Indiana in which Tayshaun Prince scored 24 points.

In the last meetings here February 25, Chris Webber had 21 points and nine rebounds to spoil former Pistons center Ben Wallace's return in a 95-93 victory. Chicago has lost 13 of its last 16 visits to The Palace of Auburn Hills.
