Hornets trying to stay in playoff race

Apr 4, 2007 - 4:05 PM Seattle (30-44) at New Orleans (34-40) 8:00 pm EDT

OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) - Chris Paul, Tyson Chandler and David West are helping the New Orleans Hornets scrap their way back into the playoff race.

The Hornets welcome the lowly Seattle Supersonics on Wednesday, needing another win to keep pace with the Los Angeles Clippers, who hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Hornets (34-40) have not been to the postseason since 2004. They have won two straight games to climb within 2 1/2 games of the Clippers (36-37).

West scored 24 points, Chandler added 18 with 20 rebounds and Paul dished out 14 assists in Tuesday's 119-101 victory over Milwaukee.

The Supersonics absorbed a 110-91 loss to San Antonio on Tuesday, their second straight setback. However, Seattle has won two of three meetings with New Orleans this season.
