Spurs look to gain ground on Suns

Apr 5, 2007 - 3:16 PM Phoenix (56-18) at San Antonio (53-21) 9:30 pm EDT

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs probably need to beat the Phoenix Suns on Thursday if they hope to get the second seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

Since February 12, San Antonio (53-21) has compiled a 20-3 record to move within three games of the Suns (56-18).

"It's a big game for us, not because of who it is, but because it's the next game," Spurs swingman Michael Finley said. "Hopefully, we can get do the things we're capable of doing, the things the coaches have been preaching thus far. And hopefully, that will be enough for us to get the win."

The Spurs have dominated the series against the Suns recently, winning 10 of the last 13 meetings - including six straight games at the AT&T Center.

Bruce Bowen's six 3-pointers helped San Antonio post a 110-91 triumph over the Seattle SuperSonics on Tuesday.

Phoenix enters riding a three-game winning streak following Tuesday's 116-111 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Suns rolled to a 103-87 victory over the Spurs on February 1 as Amare Stoudemire collected 24 points and 23 rebounds.

Manu Ginobili led the Spurs with 32 points.
