Raptors on verge of clinching first division title

Apr 6, 2007 - 5:31 PM Toronto (42-33) at Philadelphia (30-44) 7:00 pm EDT

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - Coach Sam Mitchell has the Toronto Raptors on the verge of celebrating their first division title in franchise history. But they will need some help.

Mitchell and the Raptors have a chance to clinch the Atlantic Division when they travel to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.

After finishing last season with the fifth-worst record, Toronto has turned things around and could capture its first division crown with a win and New Jersey loss at Chicago.

All-Star Chris Bosh registered his 38th double-double of the season in the Raptors' 111-108 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. Overall, they have won four of five games.

Philadelphia has slim playoff hopes, trailing Orlando by 3 1/2 games for the Eastern Conference's eighth and final playoff spot with eight games left.
