Raptors aim to clinch home-court advantage vs. Pistons
Apr 13, 2007 - 2:06 PM Detroit (51-27) at Toronto (45-33) 7:00 pm EDTTORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Raptors look have a chance to wrap up home-court advantage in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs Friday when they host the Detroit Pistons.
Having already wrapped up the Atlantic Division title, the Raptors are 2 1/2 games ahead of Southeast Division champion Miami (43-36) for fourth. They will wrap up at least the fourth spot with a win in this contest, coupled with a Miami loss at Indiana.
On Monday, Anthony Parker scored 24 points and All-Star Chris Bosh picked up his ninth straight double-double as the Raptors pushed their winning streak to four games with a 111-100 triumph at Minnesota.
The Pistons captured their second consecutive conference title and fifth Central Division crown in six years with Wednesday's 104-99 victory over Orlando.
"With the players Joe (Dumars) brought here and what we've done since we've been here, this is pretty much what we came to play for," Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. "You know we're not going to celebrate even if we get to the Finals. It's something that we want to accomplish, but at the same time, everyone knows what we're trying to do."
Rasheed Wallace had 28 points and seven rebounds to lead the Pistons to a 98-92 home victory over the Raptors on February 10.
