Spurs continue to tune up for playoffs, face Timberwolves
Apr 13, 2007 - 2:51 PM San Antonio (57-21) at Minnesota (32-46) 8:00 pm EDTMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs look to continue their winning ways Friday when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are expected to be without superstar Kevin Garnett.
The Spurs have won five straight and 11 of their last 12 games, putting them within two games of Phoenix (59-19) for the second seed in the Western Conference. San Antonio is 22-3 since the All-Star break.
San Antonio has reached 60 wins three times in its history, including in 2002-03 when it won the second of its three titles.
On Wednesday, Tim Duncan had 26 points and 13 rebounds as the Spurs posted a 109-100 victory over Sacramento.
Already eliminated from playoff contention, the Timberwolves likely will be without Garnett due to a quadriceps injury. He missed Wednesday's 105-88 loss to Dallas.
San Antonio has won five of the last six meetings between the teams.
