Jackson, Warriors top Kings, continue push for playoffs
Apr 14, 2007 - 5:04 AM SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Stephen Jackson continued to push the Golden State Warriors towards their first playoff berth in nearly 13 years.Jackson scored 26 points and Baron Davis added 25 to lead seven players in double figures as the Warriors kept pace in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with a 125-108 victory over the Sacramento Kings.
Jason Richardson and Matt Barnes scored 17 points apiece for Golden State (39-40), which is one-half game ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers (38-40) and two games ahead of the New Orleans Hornets (37-42) for the final playoff spot in the West.
The Clippers face Portland later Friday night.
Golden State is making a strong push for their first playoff berth since 1994 thanks to Jackson, who is averaging 21.0 points in his last seven games. The swingman shot 11-of-20 from the field, including 2-of-5 from the arc on Friday.
Leading by seven points after three quarters, the Warriors took control with a 13-2 run, capped by Davis' 3-pointer to make it 113-95 with 7:00 left. Al Harrington scored seven points and Davis added the other six during the spurt.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 23 points for Sacramento, which has lost 15 of its last 19 games and will miss the postseason for the first time since 1998.
