Pistons aim for consecutive series sweeps over 76ers

Apr 15, 2007 - 4:21 PM Philadelphia (33-46) at Detroit (51-28) 6:00 pm EDT

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons will try to complete their second straight season-series sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers when they meet on Sunday.

Detroit enters riding a five-game winning streak over Philadelphia, which has not won here since December 9, 2003.

With coach Flip Saunders resting the majority of his for their postseason run, the Pistons had their three-game winning streak ended with an 87-84 loss at Toronto on Friday.

Earlier this week, Detroit collected its second straight Eastern Conference title and fifth Central Division crown in six years.

On Saturday, coach Maurice Cheeks and the Sixers were finally eliminated from playoff contention with a 104-87 setback to eighth-place Orlando.

"I'm very proud of our players," Cheeks said. "There was a stretch where we lost 12 games in a row. Having the type of character players that we have is the reason why we got to this point. We're not going to the playoffs, but I see a bright future with the players that we have."

Rising 76ers star Andre Iguodala returned to the hardwood after missing two games with a strained lower back, scoring 14 points in the loss.
