Injury-plagued Hawks seek to snap 12-game losing streak

Apr 16, 2007 - 8:12 PM Atlanta (29-51) at Milwaukee (27-53) 8:00 pm EDT

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- In a matchup of teams decimated by injuries, the Atlanta Hawks try to snap a 12-game losing streak when they take on the shorthanded Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.

Both the Hawks and Bucks have suffered through abysmal seasons with multiple injuries, including those to Atlanta's Josh Childress (broken foot), Zaza Pachulia (lower right leg) and Salim Stoudamire (sprained ankle).

Before Saturday's 110-76 loss to Cleveland, the Hawks announced that guards Joe Johnson and Speedy Claxton will sit out the rest of the season due to injuries.

The team's leading scorer, Johnson has sat out 19 straight games with a calf injury. The All-Star guard averaged 25.0 points, 4.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 57 games this season.

Claxton, who signed with Atlanta as a free agent before the season, missed 33 games with a sore knee this season.

On Monday, the Hawks also will be without coach Mike Woodson, who has food poisoning. Assistant Larry Drew will guide the team.

The Bucks have also battled season-ending injuries, including those to forwards Bobby Simmons, Charlie Villanueva, leading scorer Michael Redd and center Andrew Bogut. Forward Brian Skinner also has not played since April 3 because of an inner ear infection.

Milwaukee has gone 2-12 under new coach Larry Krystkowiak, including a 113-92 loss to Charlotte on Saturday.
