Spurs look complete series sweep over Grizzlies

Apr 16, 2007 - 2:46 PM San Antonio (58-22) at Memphis (20-60) 8:00 pm EDT

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) - The San Antonio Spurs have not had any trouble from the Memphis Grizzlies over the past two seasons.

The playoff-bound Spurs hope to complete their second straight season-series sweep against the Grizzlies when they meet on Monday.

San Antonio enters after having its hope of catching the Phoenix Suns for second place in the Western Conference standings ended with Sunday's 91-86 setback at Dallas.

The victory also saw Spurs All-Star Tim Duncan pick up his second career ejection following two technicals from veteran league official Joey Crawford in the third quarter.

"Joey has a personal problem with me and I can't do anything about that," Duncan said. "I said three words to him the entire night and the other words where when he gave me technicals, so obviously he's got a personal problem with me."

Memphis, which has the league's worst record, goes for its consecutive win over a playoff-bound club after defeating the Denver Nuggets, 133-118, on Saturday.

The Grizzlies have won just once since winning back-to-back games for the first time this season on March 29, a span of seven games.

An undrafted rookie Tarence Kinsey continues to shine since being inserted in the Grizzlies' rotation, averaging almost 20 points in 11 matchups. He matched his season high with 28 points in the win.
