Jefferson leads Celtics past Heat

Apr 17, 2007 - 2:31 AM MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Miami Heat did not seem to care if they won but Al Jefferson did.

Jefferson hit a jump hook with one-tenth of a second left to lead the Boston Celtics to a 91-89 victory over the Heat.

Already locked into the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, the Heat had nine players log at least 22 minutes and did not have any of its stars on the floor in the fourth quarter.

Michael Doleac capped a 10-2 run with a basket in the lane to give Miami an 89-87 lead with 1:17 to go.

Delonte West tied the game, 89-89, with a baseline jumper with 55 seconds remaining and, after a Miami miss, Boston held the ball for a final shot.

Jefferson caught an inbounds pass on the low block and hit a turnaround jump hook over Doleac for what proved to be the winning hoop. The Heat had one last chance but an inbounds pass from half-court hit the rim and harmlessly bounced away as the horn sounded.

West scored 28 points and Jefferson had 20 and 13 rebounds for Boston, which snapped a seven-game losing streak.

Jason Williams and Jason Kapono each scored 16 points for Miami. Shaquille O'Neal scored 14 points in 24 minutes and Dwyane Wade added eight in 23.
