Cavaliers still have shot at second seed in East

Apr 18, 2007 - 2:52 PM Milwaukee (28-53) at Cleveland (49-32) 7:00 pm EDT

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers still have a chance at the second seed in the Eastern Conference, but they need some help.

The Cavaliers will look to rise from the fifth seed to the second when they face the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

Cleveland (49-32), which posted a 98-92 victory over Philadelphia on Tuesday, is battling Chicago (49-32) for the second seed in the East. The Bulls own the tiebreaker and can seal the second seed with a win at New Jersey on Wednesday.

However, if the Bulls lose, the Cavaliers will have a chance to earn the second seed. Whoever ends up with the fifth seed has to play the defending champion Miami Heat in the first round.

Cavaliers guard Larry Hughes is just happy to be in the postseason.

"We can't control (the seeding)," Hughes said. "We have to rely on another team. With that said, we've won a fair amount of games and we can be proud of that and face whoever we have to face."

The Bucks (28-53) will finish with their worst record since the 1995-96 season. Milwaukee posted just its third win in its last 15 contests - a 102-96 victory over Atlanta on Monday.

The Bucks have lost all three meetings with the Cavaliers this season.
