Spurs and Nuggets meet in preview of playoff series

Apr 18, 2007 - 3:18 PM Denver (44-37) at San Antonio (58-23) 8:00 pm EDT

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs will take on the Denver Nuggets in the regular-season finale. It doesn't figure to be much of a preview of their upcoming playoff series.

The Spurs have clinched the third seed and the Nuggets the sixth, setting up a first-round series between the squads this weekend. However, in the meaningless regular-season finale, the teams will likely use their reserves most of the way.

San Antonio already began resting its key players in Monday's 101-91 loss to Memphis. Forward Tim Duncan and guards Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili were held out of action. Swingman Brent Barry also was inactive with stomach problems.

Denver, which has won nine of its last 10 games, may hold back its stars as well. Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson combined for 46 points in a 122-107 win over Minnesota on Monday.

Linas Kleiza recorded his first career double-double for Denver, collecting 23 points and 10 boards.

The Spurs have won both meetings with Denver this season.
