Grizzlies cap off horrific season
Apr 18, 2007 - 3:32 PM Memphis (21-60) at Minnesota (32-49) 8:00 pm EDTMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- A horrific season will come to an end when the Memphis Grizzlies visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
Along with having the league's worst record (21-60), the Grizzlies lost director of basketball operations Jerry West, who informed reporters on Tuesday that he will leave the organization in July.
West built the team which made the playoffs three consecutive seasons, but the Grizzlies failed to win a postseason game. Then Memphis lost star center Pau Gasol for the first 22 games of this season due to a broken foot and fired coach Mike Fratello after a 6-24 start.
The Timberwolves have lost seven of their last eight games. Superstar Kevin Garnett was shut down for the rest of the season on April 11 with a right quadriceps injury.
Rookie Randy Foye scored 19 points in Minnesota's 122-107 loss to Denver on Monday.
