Pistons look to take hold of series in Game Two vs. Magic

Apr 23, 2007 - 2:56 PM Orlando at Detroit 7:00 pm EDT Eastern Conference first round Detroit leads, 1-0

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons took their foot off the gas in the series opener against the Orlando Magic. But Tayshaun Prince proved that experience counts.

The Pistons look to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round series when they host the Magic on Monday.

In Game One, Detroit cruised to a 91-77 lead midway through the fourth quarter before letting Orlando back into the game.

However, the Pistons held on for a 100-92 victory. Prince made the key play in the final minute, darting along the baseline and taking a pass from Richard Hamilton that he converted into an acrobatic layup.

Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace was upset that the Magic got back into the game.

"We let off a little bit (at the end)," Wallace said. "I think we may have gotten a little lazy in our execution toward the end of the game. That's something we can definitely improve on and make it a bigger deficit next time."

However, Orlando contributed to its own demise, shooting a miserable 18-of-36 from the free-throw line.

Pistons guard Chauncey Billups said that his squad planned to force the Magic to beat them with foul shooting.

"We knew they have some high flyers," Billups said. "We wanted to keep them away from that and have our big guys foul them and make them shoot free throws. When we played them the last time in the regular season, we made them use the free-throw line and they didn't shoot very well."

The series will shift to Orlando for Game Three on Thursday.
