James, Cavaliers seek series sweep of Wizards
Apr 30, 2007 - 3:01 PM Cleveland at Washington 7:00 pm EDT Eastern Conference first round Cavs lead series, 3-0WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The chance for some rest might be one of the biggest motivations for the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday.
The Cavaliers will look to complete a series sweep of the shorthanded Washington Wizards when they meet in Game Four of their Eastern Conference first-round matchup.
Three days ago, superstar LeBron James had 30 points and nine assists to help Cleveland survive a late-game charge by Washington for a 98-92 victory here in Game Three.
Holding a 17-point advantage at the half, the Cavaliers saw it erased before the end of the third quarter by the Wizards despite the absences of All-Stars Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler.
"We knew they were going to make a run on their home court," James said. "We gave up a lot of open shots to start the third (quarter), which we did not do in the first half. We relaxed a little bit and you cannot do that - especially on someone else's court."
No team in NBA history has rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win a best-of-seven series. Overall, 79 teams have held that commanding lead.
Cleveland has never swept a playoff series.
"It is about one game and our approach to that one game," Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said. "I think our spirits our good and we are in a good frame of mind. We have a game plan that we think we can execute better."
With Arenas (knee) and Butler (hand) still sidelined due to injuries, Jordan hopes Antonio Daniels' left ankle will not hamper his performance.
"It is fine, a little sore," said Daniels, who collected 20 points and 13 assists. "I will be ready to go (Monday)."
