Jazz can advance to conference finals with win Tuesday
May 15, 2007 - 1:17 PM Golden State at Utah 10:30 pm EDT Western Conference Semifinal Jazz lead series, 3-1SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- The Utah Jazz will try to remain undefeated at home in the postseason and punch their ticket for the Western Conference finals.
Utah can reach the conference finals for the first time in nine years with a win over the Golden State Warriors in Game Five on Tuesday.
Derek Fisher scored 14 fourth-quarter points and Carlos Boozer recorded 34 and 12 rebounds as Utah posted a 115-101 victory at Golden State on Sunday to take a 3-1 lead in the series.
"It was tough," Fisher said. "I really hadn't had much rhythm to my game."
Utah had to deal with late frustration fouls by Baron Davis and Jason Richardson.
Richardson's hard foul on Mehmet Okur didn't merit a one-game suspension by the NBA, but Davis' elbow to Fisher might keep the former All-Star sidelined for this matchup.
"(Fisher) said he knows I didn't do it on purpose," Davis said. "We're great friends. He's a great mentor to me, and in the moment of the game, the heat of the game, there's going to be some contact, some unnecessary contact."
To make things worse for Golden State, Davis and Richardson combined to shoot just 9-of-28 from the field in Sunday's loss.
"I thought we played hard," said Davis, who had seven turnovers. "A little fatigue may have set in. We didn't make it difficult for them to defend us and we didn't do a great job of defending. And that's why we lost, that's the bottom line."
Utah responded well after losing Game Three, 125-105, in a game in which both Fisher and Deron Williams both were in foul trouble.
"That was a big step in the growth process for us as a team," Fisher said. "After letting that game really get away from us, I tried to tell the guys, 'you know I've been on teams where you got to take steps.'"
Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington netted 24 points apiece for the Warriors, who are only 1-4 on the road in the postseason.
