Boozer, Bulls rout Grizzlies 104-64

Jan 2, 2012 - 5:59 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Carlos Boozer scored 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds and Ronnie Brewer also netted 17 points as the Chicago Bulls took a dominating, 104-64, home-opening victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night.

Derrick Rose added 16 points and six assists, while Luol Deng contributed 11 points for the Bulls, who improved to 4-1 on the season with their third straight win.

Josh Davis and Sam Young both scored 10 points off the bench to lead the Grizzlies, who were held to 31 percent shooting in the game, including 1-for-9 from three-point range.

Marc Gasol's layup brought Memphis within 7-6 early in the first quarter, but the Bulls scored eight of the next 10 points to take control of the game and headed into the second with a 25-12 lead despite shooting just 29.2 percent from the floor.

Chicago fared much better in the second quarter, connecting on 13-of-19 shots while the Grizzlies made just six of their 18 attempts to fall behind, 54-28, at halftime.

Memphis managed just four points over the first eight-plus minutes of the third quarter while Chicago dropped in 22 for a 76-32 lead.

"We just had to keep playing," Rose said. "In this league, nobody cares about your feelings. When you have a team like that, you just have to put them away."

The Grizzlies, behind 84-44 heading into the fourth quarter, never got closer than 35 for the remainder of the game.

"It hurts because it's something you try to build on," Gasol said. "It's a huge step back and we have to build chemistry again."

Chicago's Richard Hamilton was a late scratch from the game with a sore left groin...Chicago led by as many as 46 points...The Bulls held a 55-40 edge in rebounds.
