Kyrie's Cavs host Kemba's 'Cats

Jan 3, 2012 - 3:38 PM (Sports Network) - The Charlotte Bobcats started the 2011-12 season with promise, but now they're just trying to get back on track. The Bobcats will attempt to stop a three-game slide tonight with a showdown in Cleveland.

Charlotte topped Milwaukee back on Dec. 26, then lost its next three games against the Heat, Magic and Heat again. In Sunday's 129-90 setback in Miami, D.J. White had a career-high 21 points to lead the Bobcats in their first road game of the season and rookie Kemba Walker added 17.

The Heat barely missed on the floor and made 60 percent of their shots.

"When a team shoots 60 percent against you," said Bobcats coach Paul Silas, "you're not going to do very well."

The Bobcats made 38 percent of their shots and will close out a three-game road trip at New York on Wednesday. Forward Tyrus Thomas (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday's game.

Walker has scored in double figures in three of his first four NBA games.

Cleveland has alternated wins and losses over its first four games, and recorded a 98-82 victory versus New Jersey the last time out on Sunday.

Antawn Jamison poured in a game-high 23 points and pulled down five rebounds, while Daniel Gibson finished with 19 points for the Cavs. No. 1 overall pick Kyrie Irving contributed 13 points and Alonzo Gee netted 11 in the win.

"The second half was a lot better than the first half," Cavs coach Byron Scott said. "I thought in the first half, our guys just didn't seem like they had the energy. That's the one thing we talked about at halftime. There was a lot of talk about winning this game, but just like I told them at halftime 'talk don't mean a whole lot if you don't go out there and put forth the effort'. I thought in the second half, we did just that and got a good victory."

The Cavs will wrap up a brief homestand tonight before embarking on a seven- game road trip against the Raptors, Timberwolves, Blazers, Jazz, Suns, Lakers and Bobcats.

Charlotte and Cleveland are meeting for the first time since the Bobcats took two of three matchups a season ago. The Cavs halted a five-game losing streak to Charlotte with a 99-89 win last April 5 at Quicken Loans Arena. The Bobcats haven't fared too well at the Q with losses in 11 of 12 contests there.
