Nuggets conclude homestand with Kings
Jan 4, 2012 - 4:09 PM (Sports Network) - The Denver Nuggets hope to finish up a three-game homestand in perfect fashion on Wednesday when they play host to a Sacramento Kings team in the midst of a back-to-back-to-back stretch,The Nuggets improved to 2-0 on the residency Monday when Danilo Gallinari scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, as Denver erased a fourth-quarter deficit to down the Bucks, 91-86.
Al Harrington added 17 points, Ty Lawson had 16 and six assists and Corey Brewer finished with 10 points for the Nuggets, who were missing starting center Nene. The Brazilian big man was out with a bruised left foot.
"Al has been playing great," said Nuggets coach George Karl. "If we had an MVP this season it would be Al...Ty and Al."
Nene is questionable for tonight's contest as Denver attempts to improve on its undefeated 3-0 mark at the Pepsi Center this season.
The Kings, meanwhile, opened a quick two-game road trip by falling to Memphis, 113-96, on Tuesday. Rookie Jimmer Fredette led Sacramento with 17 points in that one, while Tyreke Evans was held to nine points in defeat, the Kings' fourth in five games.
DeMarcus Cousins, who reportedly demanded a trade earlier in the week, did not start but played 22 1/2 minutes, scoring four points and grabbing eight rebounds. J.J. Hickson logged 12 points and 10 rebounds for Sacramento.
"We had a hard time shooting the ball tonight," Kings head coach Paul Westphal said. "I thought we played hard, but we didn't play sharp at times."
Sacramento, which will finish its three games in three nights stretch in California's capital against Milwaukee on Thursday, has lost four of five overall against the Nuggets and five straight in the Rockies.
