Rockets visit Spurs in South Texas showdown

Jan 11, 2012 - 3:48 PM (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs are probably glad to be back in the Alamo City since they're still winless on the road. San Antonio will begin a three-game homestand tonight and looks to stay unbeaten at the AT&T Center versus the Southwest Division-rival Houston Rockets.

The Spurs, who are 6-0 at home, have lost two in a row -- both on the road -- and fell to 0-4 as the visitor after Tuesday's 106-103 loss at Milwaukee. Tony Parker finished with 22 points and eight assists, and Tim Duncan filled the stat sheet with 20 points, eight boards and seven assists in defeat. The Spurs made 60 percent of their shots, but Richard Jefferson missed a potential game- tying three in the final moments.

"We have to play better on the road than we do at home and we have yet to do that," said Jefferson, who posted 12 points.

Rookie Kawhi Leonard continued to impress with 19 points off the bench. Manu Ginobili missed his fifth straight game with a broken bone in his hand and is expected to be out six to eight weeks. T.J. Ford (hamstring) left the game on Tuesday and is questionable for tonight's game.

San Antonio will also host Portland and Phoenix on the upcoming homestand.

Houston ended a four-game losing streak and posted its third win of the season with last night's 82-70 victory at Charlotte in the opener of a two-game trek.

Chandler Parsons scored a career-high 20 points and Kevin Martin netted 17, as the Rockets won despite shooting 38.6 percent. Jordan Hill chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds for Houston, which posted its first road win of the season (1-5).

"A game like that, it's exciting," Parsons said. "For our team to be able to shoot that poorly from the field and be able to pull out a win on the road in the NBA, that's the good effort we have to give on the defensive end every night to win games like this."

Rockets guard Courtney Lee missed the game with a calf injury and is questionable against the Spurs.

The Rockets blew out the Spurs by a 105-85 score on Dec. 29 this season in Space City behind Martin's 25 points. Luis Scola added 18 points in that one for Houston, which has won two straight over San Antonio after losing the previous four meetings.

Houston has dropped three straight and 23 of the past 27 trips to the Alamo City.
