Magic, Blazers collide at Rose Garden

Jan 11, 2012 - 3:57 PM (Sports Network) - Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic resume a four-game road trip in Rip City on Wednesday by taking on a Portland Trail Blazers squad that has been perfect at the Rose Garden this season.

The Magic, who will also visit Golden State and New York on their current trip, won the opener of the trek in Sacramento on Sunday when Glen Davis stepped up and recorded 20 points and eight rebounds as Orlando took down the Kings, 104-97.

Howard, who is averaging 18.6 points and 14.6 rebounds and had posted eight consecutive double-doubles against the Kings coming in, played less than 20 minutes due to foul trouble and scored all five of his points in the fourth quarter.

"It's frustrating to get in foul trouble and (you) can't really play the way you want to play, but I was happy for the other guys" Howard said.

Jason Richardson netted a season-high 22 points and Ryan Anderson added a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Magic, who were coming off a 97-83 loss to Chicago on Friday.

The Blazers, meanwhile, improved to 6-0 on their home floor Tuesday with an impressive 105-97 win over the LA Clippers. Gerald Wallace led five teammates in double-figures with 20 points in that one.

LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley Matthews contributed 18 points apiece, while Marcus Camby added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Blazers, who have won two straight overall and 16 of 17 at the Rose Garden dating back to last season. Raymond Felton donated 17 points to go with eight assists for Portland.

"We shared the wealth on both ends of the basketball court," Camby said. "Going down the stretch we were able to get the stops we needed and knocked down a few free throws to save the game."

Wallace is averaging 21.0 points on 65.3 percent shooting in the Blazers' six home games vs. just 14 points on 4-of-25 shooting in three road encounters.

Portland has won three straight over the Magic, including last season's encounter in Rip City. However, Howard was serving a one-game suspension and missed that contest.
