Kings rally in 4th to down Pacers

Jan 19, 2012 - 6:57 AM Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Francisco Garcia scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Sacramento Kings mounted a huge comeback to down the Indiana Pacers, 92-88.

Marcus Thornton added 17 points and DeMarcus Cousins had 13 with 19 rebounds as the Kings outscored the Pacers 26-8 in the final frame to snap a three-game skid.

Danny Granger and Darren Collison netted 16 points apiece for Indiana, which had won five of six entering the game.

The Pacers held an 80-66 lead entering the fourth as they shot 50 percent from the field through the first three quarters, but the Kings subbed out 3-of-5 starters and switched their defense to a zone that stifled Indiana for the final 12 minutes.

The Pacers made just 3-of-16 shots in the fourth quarter, including 0-for-6 from beyond the arc, and turned the ball over nine times.

Indiana had turned the ball over 10 times through the first three frames.

Sacramento didn't fare much better in the fourth, shooting 24 percent, but converted Indiana's turnovers into seven points and went 12-of-15 from the charity stripe.

Garcia started the final stanza with a jumper and Travis Outlaw followed with a three-pointer to cut the Pacers' lead to single digits.

Then, after a Paul George layup, Sacramento scored 11 of the game's next 13 points to get within two, 82-84, with 5:30 to go.

David West stopped the run with a short jumper a minute later, which was the Pacers final field goal in the contest. They would only score two more points over the final 4 1/2 minutes on a pair of free throws.

Following the first Pacers free throw because of a defensive three second technical foul on Sacramento, the Kings turned a pair of Indiana turnovers into back-to-back layups by Thornton and Isaiah Thomas, cutting the deficit to one, 87-86.

Sacramento wouldn't record another basket from there either, but made 6-of-8 free throws down the stretch to take the improbable win.

The Pacers had a chance to knot the game in the closing seconds when Granger was awarded two shots from the foul line with 5.6 seconds remaining in the game and Indiana trailing 90-87.

After Granger sank the first, he threw the ball off the rim on the second try, catching everybody off guard, and he had a clear path to the rebound, but he left the line too soon and was called for a lane violation that resulted in Garcia's game-sealing free throws.

Indiana led by a score of 50-45 at the half and led by as much as 16 in the third quarter before falling apart in the fourth.

The last six games between these teams in Sacramento have been decided by nine or fewer points...Thomas finished with eight points, while Outlaw had five...West and Roy Hibbert had 13 points apiece for Indiana.
